Chef Mbinina, the CEO of Gastronomie Pizza, the first fast food chain in Madagascar is a man of humble beginning. At the time he started his business in 2001, pizza was not part of the diet of an average Malagasy. It was said that Mbinina would stand in the middle of the road with a fresh baked pizza on a board and sell to passers-by. The feedback from people after some few months was encouraging. This propelled him to open his first Pizza restaurant.


The initial response was awful. He barely sold 10 units of pizza. But he was tenacious. He was audacious. He was persistent. The result of that is the success story of Gastronomie Pizza with 27 stores across the country, over 700 employees and consumption of 123 tonnes of cheese per year.
