African-start-Up November-2016-Comic-Republic-Backend1

Research shows that Arts, Entertainment and Recreation contributed an estimated 0.26% to real GDP in Q1 2016, higher from 0.24% recorded the previous year and 0.18% recorded in Q4 2015. SMEs in this sector recognize the potential here hence their increased connection with technology to showcase Nigeria to Africa and the rest of the world.

Comic Republic is one of them; founded 2013 in Nigeria by Jide Martins, a 38-year old lawyer-turned-entrepreneur. The digital comic book startup aims to change the way the world sees Africa through animation. Inspired by comic heroes as a child, Martins wanted to share his love for comic heroes with Nigeria's youth and young adults. When it started, the company had 100 downloads a month; now they average more than 48,000 a month from all around the world.
